These German Tourists Climbed Mt Kinabalu 40 Years Ago and Shot This Amazing Video

There are not many old videos of Mount Kinabalu so this video will definitely amaze you!

Kinabalu Park was established as one of the first national parks of Malaysia in 1964 and was announced as Malaysia’s first World Heritage Site designated by UNESCO in December 2000 for its “outstanding universal values”.

British colonial administrator and naturalist Hugh Low led an expedition from Tuaran to the region in 1851. He also became the first recorded man to reach the peak of Mount Kinabalu.

In 1977, a group of German tourists visited the park and climbed Mount Kinabalu.

We’re very fortunate that they took the time to shoot their adventure up the mountain because now we’re able to witness how pristine it was back then.

The whole video which was uploaded to YouTube by user unschintscho is about 12 minutes long.

We spent a bit of time going through the video and made it shorter to highlight the beauty of the park. Watch the video below:

I’ve personally climbed Mt Kinabalu twice and very keen to go up there again someday!

Be awesome, share this on:
